Glory of the Hero
14.12.2008

"Another thing checked off the "to-do" list for this expansion :)
On sunday evening three members of Carpe Noctem: Befsztyks, Carpejugulum and Savi - managed to complete the meta-achievement for Wrath of the Lich King heroics.
Finishing it grants sweet-looking red proto drake mount; but completing some of those achievements was reward in itself. Even if it was hard work at times.
Speaking of which; big thanks goes to all the other guys that helped us getting our list cleared. It wasn't 3-man effort at any point and I hope everyone else that been with us on the hardest ones; or works on them themself; will get their drake soon enough. Few more people in Carpe Noctem definately deserve one :)"

"P.S. Congrats to Naid and Euzebiusz for getting theirs aswell. Keep it coming!"
Better late than never

"Thanks to the 'valiant' defense of Lightbringer's Stormwind Finest we stopped at two of the city bosses down at level 70. Now, with all raid content completed again, we decided to finish that bussiness aswell. Same as those few weeks ago we filled up the raid, we went to Stranglethorn to launch our surprise attack...
Before we noticed, all four leaders - Varian Wrynn, Magni Bronzebeard, Prophet Valen and Tyrande Whisperwind - were down. Some of them lost 50% of their health in a single bloodlust duration. Few Alliance dudes still tried to defend; and kudos for that, but currently against the full raid it's about as doable as trying to keep Crossroads Innkeeper alive.
So we report the kills for the completeness sake - but they are as easy now as they were hard at 70. Expecting to see many more of the Black War Bears really soon."

Kel'thuzad down, first raiding tier finished
30.11.2008

"As mentioned little earlier, the three days of raiding in our first WotLK reset ended with two final bosses left to kill. Malygos died on friday, after nice effort from the entire guild learning some completely new raid mechanics. Today Kel'thuzad followed. Aside from some achievements, we finished all available raiding content.
The first and obvious conclusion is that it's easy. It took us six evenings, not entirely free of lag and disconnects - and would take even less if we started at the beginning of the reset, seeing as we already had Kel'thuzad at 20% on tuesday evening, but had to reclear Naxxramas since.
But thinking little more, it's easy for guild like ours, who spend days wiping on Lady Vashj, Kael'thas, Eredar Twins, M'uru.
Being the entry level content, it's probably going to be perfect challenge for people that are just starting the raiding. Sartharion is complete tank and spank, Arachnid and Plague Quarter are full of gimmick fights, doable with half of the raid dead. The personal responsibility starts coming out in Military, Construct introduces some tight enrage timers and really heavy-hitting bosses. Final encounters; Four Horsemen, Thaddius, Sapphiron, Kel'thuzad can't really be put on the same shelf as Sartharion or Noth. Malygos could easily compete with most of what was considered "TBC end-game" for so many months.
If completely new guild was faced against him and Illidan or Archimonde in their most popular level 70 version, it's really hard to say who would die first and who would die last.
It gives hope for Ulduar providing some serious challenge - as long as Blizzard keeps increasing difficulty instead of falling back on gimmick fights; but of course we can only tell when we see it. Until then, fingers crossed."

Hi Malygos, bye Malygos!
28.11.2008

"Malygos - the most interesting raid boss of Wrath of the Lich King and the only one that actually takes more than five pulls to learn - fell on friday around 10PM. By that, the race for server firsts finished on Lightbringer. Congratulation to Godless for getting Kel'thuzad and congratulation us for the dragons. Hopefully competition will be just as tight when Ulduar raid gets released - and hopefully the difficulty will keep ramping up. Malygos was nice premise of the things to come."

First week of WotLK raiding
25.11.2008

"Two weeks into the expansion, majority of our raiding team hit 80 - and we decided to give the 25-mans a shot right away. Just as expected, Sunwell gear paired up with few new blue items picked during leveling does the trick just fine. In the 3 days we had last reset, we managed to kill Sartharion and clear Naxxramas up to Kel'thuzad, getting some server first kills along the way.
The entry content seems fairly accessible for everyone, meaning the more experienced raiding guilds have easy time going through it, as proved by Alliance's Godless and Gathering aswell. Fortunately, it's still pretty entertaining and even on the one raiding tier we have access to at the moment it already scales; From Sartharion and Arachnid Quarter being not much above glorified tank and spank, increasing skill and gear requirements thorough Plague and Military Quarters, to pretty nicely tuned awareness checks in Construct Quarter and Sapphiron.
We will hold the final judgement till we down Kel'thuzad and Malygos aswell, but for now it looks like raiding in the expansion will be fun for everyone, letting new people in without scaring them away with overtuned entry fights, and keeping harder stuff in store on later tiers for more battle-hardened guilds."
